This Artwork depicts the formation of the Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh ji formed the Khalsa to fight injustice and build a kingdom of peace. Khalsa is the true combination of saint and soldier, where the saint will always pick up arms to protect the weak and destroy the oppressors. This transformation of men took place in the year 1699 on the eve of Vaisakhi where 5 Sikhs who gave their heads to the Guru, after drinking the Amrit(divine nectar) were reborn as the Khalsa. Guru Gobind Singh ji prepared the Amrit by taking water from river satluj in a sarbloh bowl and stirring the water with a Khanda while reciting Gurbani. Mata jeeto ji added patashe(sugar substance) to the Amrit. These 5 Sikhs took Amrit from the Guru and became the Panj Peyare (the 5 beloved). But the most astonishing thing happened when Guru Gobind Singh ji himself bowed down to the Panj peyare and asked for Amrit. In return, the Panj Peyare asked Guru Sahib we have given our heads for the Amrit what will the Guru give? Guru Sahib replied When the time comes I will sacrifice my whole family for the panth. Guru Sahib drank Amrit and became Guru Gobind Singh from Guru Gobind Rai.
ਇਹ ਕਲਾ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਦੇ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਹੋਣ ਦੀ ਗਾਥਾ ਨੂੰ ਦਰਸਾਉਂਦੀ ਹੈ। ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਨੂੰ ਅਨਿਆਇ ਦਾ ਵਿਰੋਧ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਸ਼ਾਂਤੀ ਦਾ ਰਾਜ ਸਿਰਜਣ ਲਈ ਪ੍ਰਗਟ ਕੀਤਾ। ਖਾਲਸਾ ਸੱਚੇ ਸੰਤ ਅਤੇ ਸਿਪਾਹੀ ਦਾ ਮੇਲ ਹੈ, ਜਿੱਥੇ ਸੰਤ ਕਮਜ਼ੋਰਾਂ ਦੀ ਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਅਤੇ ਜ਼ਾਲਮਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਸ਼ਟ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਹਥਿਆਰ ਚੁੱਕਦਾ ਹੈ। ਇਹ ਬਦਲਾਅ 1699 ਵਿੱਚ ਵੈਸਾਖੀ ਦੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੋਇਆ ਸੀ, ਜਦੋਂ 5 ਸਿੱਖ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਗੁਰੂ ਨੂੰ ਸਮਰਪਿਤ ਕੀਤਾ ਤੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਕੇ ਖਾਲਸੇ ਦੇ ਰੂਪ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੀਵਤ ਹੋਏ ।ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਤਿਆਰ ਕਰਨ ਲਈ ਸਤਲੁਜ ਦਰਿਆ ਦਾ ਪਾਣੀ ਲਿਆ, ਇਸਨੂੰ ਸਰਬਲੋਹ ਦੇ ਬਾਟੇ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਾਇਆ ਅਤੇ ਖੰਡੇ ਨਾਲ ਫੇਰਦੇ ਸਮੇਂ ਗੁਰਬਾਣੀ ਦਾ ਉਚਾਰਣ ਕੀਤਾ। ਮਾਤਾ ਜੀਤੋ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਵਿੱਚ ਪਤਾਸੇ ਪਾਏ। ਇਹ 5 ਸਿੱਖ ਗੁਰੂ ਤੋਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲੈ ਕੇ ਪੰਜ ਪਿਆਰੇ ਬਣੇ। ਪਰ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਹੈਰਾਨੀਜਨਕ ਘਟਨਾ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਹੋਈ ਜਦੋਂ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਖੁਦ ਪੰਜ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਅੱਗੇ ਝੁੱਕ ਕੇ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਦੀ ਦਾਤ ਮੰਗੀ। ਪੰਜ ਪਿਆਰਿਆਂ ਨੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੂੰ ਪੁੱਛਿਆ, “ਅਸੀਂ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਲਈ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਿਰ ਦਿੱਤਾ ਹੈ, ਗੁਰੂ ਕੀ ਦੇਵੇਗਾ?” ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਨੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਦਿੱਤਾ, “ਜਦੋਂ ਸਮਾਂ ਆਵੇਗਾ, ਮੈਂ ਆਪਣਾ ਸਾਰਾ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਪੰਥ ਲਈ ਕੁਰਬਾਨ ਕਰਾਂਗਾ।” ਗੁਰੂ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤ ਸ਼ੱਕ ਕੇ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਰਾਏ ਜੀ ਤੋਂ ਸ੍ਰੀ ਗੁਰੂ ਗੋਬਿੰਦ ਸਿੰਘ ਜੀ ਬਣ ਗਏ।
